Eliminate Hazards by Design! Hazards can be found everywhere, but are especially dangerous in construction and heavy industry. Many of these hazards are caused by inherently unsafe processes or products used on-site, leading to industrial disasters that destroy life and property. Analysis of many of these man-made disasters shows that if a system safety evaluation had been made at the time of design or planning, the catastrophic event would never have occurred.HIFI combats these disasters by creating an information base of system safety to design out hazards, thereby preventing a disaster before it happens. HIFI offers workshops that focus on system safety in the pre-plan phase of construction or facility design, creates studies of inherently safe products and practices, and offers a network of system safety knowledge created by leading engineers in the field. With the knowledge of hazards and the engineering controls by both management and the public, safety becomes a citizen-centered, results-oriented, and profit motivated endeavor. Keeping safety simple: engineering = no hazard = no injuries = no lawsuits = more profit .
Book Release: Construction Safety Engineering Principles
Each year in February HIFI holds its Annual Workshop. This one and a half day session provides participants with a forum to examine the implementation of safe design improvements, safety appliances, and safe systems with innovative presentations and enthusiastic discussion. The material features cutting edge ideas on how to further the field of safety. Learn about our valuable Workshops.
